The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, along with the Federal Bureau of Investigation Mobile and the Alabama Attorney General’s Office, is requesting the public's assistance in identifying the person(s) of interest related to the detonation of an explosive device over the weekend.

ALEA says an explosive device was detonated about 3:42 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of Washington Avenue and South Bainbridge Street, outside of the Alabama Attorney General's Office in downtown Montgomery.

No injuries or damage to nearby buildings were reported, ALEA says.

ALEA asks anyone with information to please submit tips at 1-800-CALL-FBI and upload any digital files online at: .

Special Agents with ALEA's State Bureau of Investigation received notification of a suspicious package about 8:19 a.m. Monday and immediately responded to the scene and deemed the area safe, according to ALEA.

ALEA says the suspicious package was confirmed as the device which was detonated on Saturday.

Nothing further is available as the investigation remains ongoing.

Troopers assigned to ALEA’s Protective Services Division and Special Agents assigned to ALEA’s Hazardous Device Unit, along with agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and officers from the Montgomery Police Department also responded to the scene to assist.
