AUBURN, Ala. – Graduate senior guard Lior Berman (Birmingham, Ala.) is out for the remainder of the season as a MRI on Sunday morning confirmed an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury to his left knee.

Berman will consult with Auburn Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Benton Emblom in the coming days.

“Our heart truly breaks for Lior,†Head Coach Bruce Pearl said. “He has made a huge impact in this program resulting in historical success over the last five years. At a time when he had worked his way into a major roll on this year’s team, the Lord had a different plan. I promise you, Lior’s faith and conviction will allow him to pursue his dream of playing professionally next year in Israel. Our team may have won a game yesterday, but we suffered a huge loss.â€

Berman played in 86 career games helping the Tigers earn a No. 1 national ranking and Southeastern Conference regular-season championship title in 2021-22 and to their current 22-7 overall record – currently tied as the eighth-most wins in program history.

He came back for his fifth year at Auburn, after earning a scholarship during his senior campaign in 2022-23 and a regular spot in this year’s rotation. The former walk-on graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in industrial design in May of 2022.

“I want to give thanks to my coaches, staff, administration, teammates and the Auburn Family,†Berman said. “I have loved every second here and wouldn’t trade it for anything. Let’s finish this season with a bang. War Eagle!â€
