** LEVEL 1/5 RISK FOR SEVERE STORMS ON THURSDAY**
Tuesday brings lovely and sunny weather into the forecast. High temperatures this afternoon will rise to near 90 but humidity will be so low that conditions will still be relatively comfortable to be outside in.
Gusty wind and cloud cover move into the area tomorrow and then we start to feel the ramifications of Francine on Thursday.
Francine is currently still a Tropical Storm Forming in the Gulf but by tomorrow morning, at its strongest, it will be a Category 2 Hurricane with wind speeds up to 110 mph and 10 foot tall storm surge crashing in the Louisiana coastline, near Lafayette.
After landfall, Francine will weaken to a Tropical Depression, low pressure system, by Thursday. This is the point where we will start to experience rain and a risk for storms, triggering a level 1/5 risk for severe weather for our western and southern counties.
Our greatest threat on Thursday is up to 40 mph wind, but we also have the very serious threats of torrential rain of up to 2-2.5" and a threat for tornadoes, primarily in the afternoon and evening hours.
The rain and storm mixture turns to just rain in the wee hours of the morning on Friday and continues to bring us scattered and non-severe rain throughout the day.
TUESDAY: Sunny, hot, not muggy. Highs near 90. Wind SE 5-10 mph.
TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy skies. Lows in the mid-60s. Wind: SE 5 mph.
