CDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Heat index values up to 109 expected.

* WHERE...Portions of north central, northeast, and northwest
Alabama and southern middle Tennessee.

* WHEN...From 10 AM this morning to 7 PM CDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

A Madison man faces rape and other charges after police say he abused a child.

Treyveon Putman, 24, was arrested June 20 in Mississippi by the U.S Marshal’s Service and brought back to Madison on Wednesday.

Putman is now in the Madison County Jail charged with rape, sodomy and traveling to meet a child for an unlawful sex act.

This investigation started at the beginning of June after a tip from the Decatur Police Department.
