DECATUR PD

The former Decatur officer charged with murder in connection to the death of Steve Perkins now has an arraignment hearing set for March 4.

We are still waiting to hear from the Decatur Police Department about former officer Mac Bailey Marquette's arrest and indictment.

Decatur police originally told Â鶹Çø to expect a response to Marquette's indictment Tuesday, but that has since been delayed.

When asked about a new timeline to the delay, "A timeline has not been determined," Irene Cardenas-Martinez with Decatur Police said.

According to the Morgan County Sheriff's Office, the 23-year-old was taken into custody Thursday as he turned himself in at the Morgan County Jail.

The sheriff's office says Marquette was arrested on a grand jury warrant for murder.

He was booked into the Morgan County Jail with bond set at $30,000.

Jail records show he was released the following morning.

Decatur Police has yet to comment on their former officer’s arrest.

The Perkins family and supporters are eagerly awaiting the police department’s statement.
