The list of arrests from protests for Steve Perkins is growing.

On Monday, the Decatur Police Department announced they identified the protesters who blocked traffic on the Hudson Memorial Bridge during a protest over the officer-involved shooting death of Steve Perkins. Police said traffic was backed up for miles on Oct. 19, creating a hazardous situation.

Police said arrest warrants were obtained for those individuals, and they said they are actively notifying the individuals involved to charge them with disorderly conduct.

Police describe the crime of disorderly conduct as one acting with an intent to cause public inconvenience, annoyance or alarm, or recklessly creating a risk.

These arrests, however, are not the first arrests made at a Perkins protest.

One of the Perkins protest organizers, Briona Watkins, says nine people have been arrested over the past three weeks, with the most recent arrest made just this past week at a protest in downtown Decatur.

Decatur resident Jaheim Langford was charged with disorderly conduct.

Langford says he was trying to pick up a megaphone that had dropped on the ground when a Decatur police officer charged at him and arrested him.

Langford says despite the arrest, he’s going to continue to show up.

“We just want justice. We’re trying to keep it as peaceful as we can," said Langford. "We’re going to continue to keep it peaceful until we get justice, and I feel like we can really get justice and keep it peaceful at the same time.â€

Langford thinks protests will continue until the Decatur police officers involved are prosecuted.

Langford says people will be gathering at the Decatur Police Department at 7 p.m. every night this week for Perkins.

“I just feel like I should be here,†Langford continued. “I can do everything else at home, but I can at least be a part of helping get justice for a man that was wrongfully killed.â€Â

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency has no updates on the Perkins investigation at this time.
