Firefighters battled a large brush fire Tuesday evening in the Moores Mill area of Madison County, near Clearvue Road.
Ethan Fitzgerald with the Moores Mill Volunteer Fire Department told Â鶹Çø the fire started as a controlled burn around 5:30 p.m. in a field near Station 4, but quickly spread out of control toward Clearvue due to high winds in the area.
The National Weather Service in Huntsville issued a Wind Advisory for Madison County, which was effective at noon Tuesday.
At its peak, the fire burned at least three acres, according to Fitzgerald.Ìý
Firefighters with Moores Mill, Central Fire/EMS and the New Market Volunteer Fire Department helped to bring the fire under control.
Fitzgerald also credited the nearby community who helped put out the fire.
“We were able to enlist the help of some heavy equipment operators. They helped us smother the fire, and take down some trees that were on fire,†he said.
There were no injuries reported and no structures were damaged.
