In the aftermath of last week's prolonged winter weather event, the city of Huntsville says Huntsville Public Works is working to get caught up on garbage collection.
According to the city, homes at higher elevations could experience delays into later this week as crews work Friday and Saturday to collect routes missed due to icy roads.
The city says they will allow, for this week only, residents to place overflow bags next to their garbage cans for collection. Bags should weigh less than 50 pounds.
Huntsville Public Works Director Chris McNeese says his department is committed to restoring service promptly and appreciates the community's cooperation during this period of extended delays.
