A Section man is facing multiple charges, including attempted murder, after deputies say he attacked people with a hammer.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, 34-year-old Ralph Lee Billy Wayne Steed was charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of burglary, attempted assault, resisting arrest and cruelty to animals.
On Wednesday, Jackson County deputies and officers with the Section Police Department responded to a call of a man who was armed with a hammer and had entered residences on Tammy Little Drive, assaulting people.
The sheriff’s office says Steed forced entry into two homes and assaulted two people and a dog with the hammer during the attacks.
Officers arrived on scene and confronted Steed inside one of the residences, still armed with the hammer.
The man was tased by an officer and taken into custody with the assistance of a deputy that arrived on scene.
The two people who were assaulted were transported to Highlands Hospital by ambulance for treatment.
Steed was booked into the Jackson County Jail with no bond set at this time.
